Questions we get asked most
Is a certificate bought here identical to buying from the brand direct?
Yes. Certificates are issued and digitally signed by the certificate authority — Sectigo, Comodo, GeoTrust, Thawte, RapidSSL or Certum — not by us. You get the same certificate, the same warranty and the same browser trust. We are an authorised partner buying in volume, which is why the price is lower.
How quickly will I get my certificate?
Domain validated certificates are usually issued within minutes of you completing domain control validation. Organisation validated certificates typically take one to three business days, and extended validation three to five, because the certificate authority verifies your company during that time. We follow up with them on your behalf.
I do not know which certificate I need. Can you tell me?
Yes, and it costs nothing. Use the two-question picker at the top of this page, browse the certificate finder, or just email help@sslretail.com with your domain and what the site does. We will tell you the cheapest certificate that genuinely covers it — including when the free option is enough.
What if I order the wrong one?
Cancel an SSL certificate within 10 days for a full refund, or swap to a different certificate and pay only the difference. Email help@sslretail.com from the address you ordered with. Some product types, such as code signing, digital signing and scanning products, cannot be cancelled once issued — the refund policy spells out exactly which.
Will it work with my hosting or server?
Every certificate we sell works on any standard web server — Apache, Nginx, IIS, cPanel, Plesk, load balancers and cloud platforms — and on appliances that accept a standard certificate and key. If you need the same certificate on more than one machine, most products let you add extra server licences when you order; the count is shown on the product page. Unsure about a specific setup? Ask before you order and we will confirm.
Do you help with installation?
Installation support is free with every certificate — send us the error and we will walk you through it. If you would rather not touch the server at all, our installation service does the whole job for you, including the chain and the redirect.
