Who runs Sectigo
Worth knowing if you are renewing something: Sectigo and Comodo are the same certificate authority. Comodo CA was sold by the Comodo Group in 2017 and renamed Sectigo in 2018, and the roots did not change with the name. A certificate you bought as Comodo in 2016 renews here as Sectigo, chains to the same roots and installs identically.

Questions we get asked about Sectigo
Is Sectigo the same as Comodo?
Yes. Comodo CA was renamed Sectigo in 2018 after being sold by the Comodo Group. The roots, the issuing systems and the certificates are the same; only the name on the invoice changed. A Comodo certificate renews as a Sectigo one with no change to your server.
Is a cheaper Sectigo certificate a weaker one?
No. Encryption strength is set by your server, not by the price of the certificate, and every certificate here uses the same algorithms and key sizes. What you pay more for is the depth of the identity check and the size of the warranty, not the security of the connection.
Will it work in every browser?
Yes. Sectigo roots have been in the Microsoft, Apple, Mozilla, Google and Android trust stores for many years, which covers effectively every browser and phone in use.
How long does validation take?
A domain validated certificate is usually issued within minutes of you answering the validation email or placing a file on the server. Organisation and extended validation involve checks on the company itself and typically take one to five working days.
Can I move it to a different server later?
Yes, and you do not need our permission. You can also reissue it free and unlimited times for the whole term if you change hostname, rebuild the server or lose the key.
