When you purchase new SSL certificate or renew, You receive a link using which you can generate the SSL certificate alternatively you can also generate SSL Certificate from backend control panel. This link sent to your email is called "SSL invitation link".

This link is most useful when you want someone else to install the Certificate on your server, just forward the link to concerned person because this link allow to authenticate website and signed generate SSL certificate.
